Etymology
Aang was raised by monks and frozen at age 12. He literally doesn't know real curse words. 'Monkey feathers' is what an innocent kid invents when they need to express frustration. It reveals his sheltered upbringing while being genuinely funny.

Used in the Avatar comics (The Promise, 2012, and sequels). Referenced in fan discussions about Avatar's profanity system.
Taboo Trajectory
Deliberately the mildest possible exclamation. That's the point — Aang is a monk-raised child. His profanity reflects his innocence. The contrast between his gentle cursing and Toph's implied vulgar vocabulary is a running joke.
