An oath invoking Kalad the Usurper's legendary Lifeless army — the Phantoms. Kalad created thousands of stone-encased Lifeless soldiers that nearly destroyed civilization during the Manywar. Invoking his Phantoms is invoking the most terrifying military force in Nalthian history.

Etymology
Kalad the Usurper raised an army of Lifeless (reanimated corpses powered by BioChromatic Breath) encased in stone, making them nearly indestructible. The Phantoms became legend — a boogeyman story of unstoppable destruction. Swearing by them invokes that existential dread.

Taboo Trajectory
The strongest oath in Warbreaker's vocabulary. Invoking Colors is mild blasphemy; invoking Kalad's Phantoms is invoking apocalyptic military horror. It's the difference between saying 'Oh God' and 'Nuclear hellfire.'
Semantic Drift Timeline
Gains a dramatic irony layer as the novel progresses and the truth about Kalad's identity is revealed. Every casual use of 'Kalad's Phantoms!' retroactively becomes more loaded once you know who Kalad really is.
